If your family is experiencing a difficulty or crisis, you can get therapy and counselling from a family welfare centre.
The family welfare centre offers you therapy or counselling services when your family experiences a difficulty or crisis. You can contact a family welfare centre directly and all employees are under the obligation of confidentiality. Conversational therapy for couples and families is the most common service. The family welfare centre also offers classes and group therapy centred on relevant family and relationship issues. The family welfare centre provides mandatory counselling
There are family welfare centres in every county. They are either governmental or ecclesiastical, but are subject to the same legislation and are all approved by the Ministry of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion.
The service is free.
The family welfare centre works together with the health care centres in their district, particularly on childbirth preparation courses and A Good Life Together, a course for new parents. Where appropriate and when the family gives consent, the family welfare centre will work together with the municipal child welfare services to determine what measures to take that are good for the whole family. The family welfare centre also works together with schools, the social security office, volunteer organisations, the religious community and similar entities.
See in particular Section 51 Who shall attend mediation of the Children Act and Section 26 Mediation of the Marriage Act.
